Pastor speaks about strong versus weak

The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Instead of preaching a sermon on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily told a story about his dog Leo.

He spoke about a time when Leo was bitten by a larger dog and explained the long-term impact of the attack.

“It pains me when a big dog bites a smaller one,” he said. “The effects and memories linger.”

In the children’s message, Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell spoke about how God provides light during dark times.

For the offertory, the church choir sang “The Lord Is My Light.”

For the postlude, organist Yevgenia Semeina played “Postlude in C” (J. McGrath).

By the time the fellowship gathering ended, snow was falling.
