NHCC is blessed with beautiful stained glass windows. The six double-paned “teaching windows” were added in the 1960’s. Each window illustrates two Bible stories.
[L] Moses and the Burning Bush : Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring forth my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt. (R) Samuel Anointing Saul : And the Lord came and stood forth, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for thy servant hears. “ {L} Prophecy of EzĂ„ekiel : For I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the countries, and bring you into your own land . (R) Prophecy of Daniel: The head of this image was of fine gold , its breast and arms of silver , its belly and thighs of bronze (brass ), its legs of iron , its feet partly of iron and partly of clay . (L) Prophecy of Isaiah : He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more . (R) Prophecy of Jeremiah : But you, gird up your loins; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them , lest I dismay you before them. And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its princes, its priests, and the people of the land. (L) The Parable of the Lost Son : And he said to him, “Son, you are always with me , and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to make merry and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.” (R) The Parable of the Young Virgins : And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, “Lord, lord, open to us.” But he replied, “Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.” Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour . (L) The Parable of the Good Samaritan : “Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed mercy on him.” And Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise .” (R) The Parable of the Sower : A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold. (L) The Parable of the Banquet : But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be recompensed at the resurrection of the just . (R) Teaching the Multitude : And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up the cross and follow me. ”
