The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.Psalm 146: 7-9
Sometime-singers joined the choir at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, enriching the choral offerings. The service featured an extra helping of hymns, including “Spirit of Love” and “Lord Bid Your Servant Go in Peace.”
In his meditation, the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily described singing as a “converting ordinance” — something that changes those who participate in it. He explained that the Psalms are a type of song and challenged the congregation to read one Psalm daily, which would lead to a full reading by February 25, 2026.
The children’s message was also about the Psalms.
For the postlude, organist Yevgenia Semeina played Symphony #1, Marche Triomphonale (C.-M. Widor).
