Family Promise Metrowest seeks volunteers

Volunteering allows you to connect with amazing people–families whose hard work and determination help them to move forward with success.

Family Promise Metrowest, one of the area organizations supported by NHCC through our Mission Committee, needs teen and adult volunteers to perform tasks and support residents in their office and shelter. NHCC is an outreach member of Family Promise’s Congregational Network and is expected to provide critically needed volunteer support.

The mission of Family Promise is to “transform the lives of families with children that are facing homelessness by mobilizing a diverse community to provide shelter, education, and comprehensive support.”

“At a time when home prices, including rents, are making it difficult for many to stay in their homes, contributing to homelessness, Family Promise is a lifesaver,” states Mission Committee member and Family Promise volunteer Lynn Scheller.

She adds, “Support for homeless families is provided by the amazing staff and wonderful volunteers who tutor, help in the office, teach budgeting, cook, and much more. Volunteering allows you to connect with amazing people–families whose hard work and determination help them to move forward with success–and other volunteers and staff who help them in this process. It is exciting and fulfilling to be part of this process!”

In June 2022, Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell sent Family Promise $200 collected by children and youth after a May presentation by Lynn Scheller.
