As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7
Children and adults from Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC (NHCC), shopped and cooked over several weeks in November 2025 to provide meal kits, roasted turkeys, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pies for a Thanksgiving feast for 300 people at Allston Brighton Food Pantry.
“The outpouring of compassion and plain old kitchen skills was wonderful,” said the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily.
Families brought 20 meal kits to NHCC and, on Sunday, November 23, Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell masterminded a pie-making activity in the church kitchen for about 20 children and parents, resulting in 12 freshly baked pumpkin pies.
On Tuesday, November 25, volunteers drove three carloads of food from Newton to Brighton for the Thanksgiving meal.
Thank you to all shoppers, chefs, drivers, and organizers, and other volunteers!
