Mission Committee plans end-of-church-year donations

Members of the Newton Highlands Congregational Church Mission Committee met several times in June 2024 to decide which nonprofits to support with their remaining $8,000 budget.

According to chair Kitty Rieske, they wanted to strike a balance between local organizations and international ones and to touch on the goals expressed in their mission statement (Feed the Hungry, House the Homeless, and Keep the Creation).

In addition to supporting organizations they have helped in the past, they added Newton Neighbors, whose mission is to “facilitate community connection, mutual aid, and access to resources and supports for all people who live, work, pray, play and/or learn in Newton, MA, and other local communities.”

Letters of thanks arrived recently from Family Promise Metrowest and the Southern New England Conference UCC.
