Newton for Everyone invites community members to “Housing and Climate Change: What’s the Connection” on Wednesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m., at the Scandinavian Living Center (206 Waltham Street, West Newton) and on Zoom.

In this session we’ll explore how strategic housing development can contribute to a more sustainable future for Newton by doing the following:
- Reducing traffic congestion and emissions
- Preserving trees, open spaces, and our natural environment
- Decreasing our carbon footprint
- Building a more sustainable and vibrant community
Our featured speaker is long-time Newton resident Dan Ruben, a leading voice in sustainable practices. Dan teaches at several universities, including Boston University and the University of Southern Maine. He is the author of the textbook Sustainable Hospitality, and has been a Board member of Green Newton since 1996. H is currently the chair of Green Newton’s Building Standards Committee, and he has been instrumental in persuading developers to build Passive House, all-electric, low embodied carbon developments.
