“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands.”
Psalm 19:1
Eighteen members and friends of Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, gathered on Monday, October 19, 2026, to see sketches and a schematic design for a landscape master plan.
For the fourth Community Connection working session, presenters Karen Sebastian and David Nauss shared their ideas and answered questions.
Karen Sebastian explained how she had divided the grounds into the zones that parishioners envisioned.
David Nauss shared a three-dimensional model of the design.
Highlights of the plan included the following:
- A generous landing area outside the main entrance
- A series of walkways to ease the transition from the street to the main entrance
- A path to connect the front lawn to the side lawn
- Trees along Hartford Street to draw people’s eyes to the main entrance
- A circular memorial garden
- A gathering place for outdoor fellowship time
Diane Basemera, Sally Brickell, and Yoko Bryden organized the session, and Ms. Basemera provided pizza and salad.
