Along with the dynamic preaching and leadership of the Reverend June Cooper, services on January 9 and 16, 2022, will feature her friends and colleagues in ministry, Myran and Kenneth Brass, leading all musical aspects of worship. Come lift your voices and join them in singing a few old favorites in a new, spirited way.
Chicago natives, Myran and Kenneth Brass have dedicated their lives and professional careers to music, education, and community. Ms. Brass, who recently retired as executive director for the arts for Boston Public Schools, continues to work on systemically building and deepening equitable access to quality arts education for all students as a strategic and cultural planning consultant for school districts and arts and culture organizations.
Mr. Brass, a professor and former department chair at Berklee College of Music for over thirty years, continues to train the next generation of musicians, educators, and entrepreneurs.
Their careers as professional musicians transcend musical genres and literally embrace Bach to rock. In addition to having individual careers, the Brasses share their expertise and love of music as a team, working as music directors for Myrtle Baptist Church, the Worcester Community Gospel Choir, and Greater Lawrence Community Choir, to name a few. Essential to all their work is sharing their gifts and talents and spreading the gospel and love of Jesus Christ.
