CE: Preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ

December 2023

In the midst of this season’s hustle and bustle there are beautiful moments of worship, singing, and sharing; of touching one another’s hearts; of sensing the mystery of God’s gift of love in Jesus Christ.

We will serve those in need just as Jesus taught us. We will make sandwiches for the hungry, collect diapers for babies, learn how to prepare for the birth of Jesus, and participate in a Christmas pageant.

Please bring a package of diapers to church this month for our Diapers-Not-Included Drive.

Here is our schedule for December.

  • Sunday, December 3, 10:00 a.m., We will gather in the kitchen to make sandwiches for our neighbors at the Community Day Center of Waltham. After class, join us for a fun children’s gingerbread-house-making activity during the Advent Market.
  • Sunday, December 10, 10:00 a.m., Do you have an Advent wreath or a Christmas tree set up in your home? Join us in class and make your own Jesse Tree. The Jesse Tree is used during Advent to retell the Bible stories that lead to Jesus’ birth. Since Advent is a season of waiting, a Jesse Tree will help to build joy and anticipation as you wait for Christmas.
  • Sunday, December 17, 10:00 a.m., Everyone is invited to a Christmas Pageant presented by our children and youth during worship.
  • Sunday, December 24, 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Join us for a traditional Christmas Eve service.
  • Sunday, December 31, 10:00 a.m., All are welcome to an intergenerational worship service.
