Christian Ed sandwich-making collaboration with Mission Committee flourishes

He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.”

Luke 3:11

At Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell expressed gratitude for her Christian Education Committee’s collaboration with the church’s Mission Committee.

In a letter to the Mission Committee on April 7, 2025, she wrote the following:

“I dropped off tangerines, bananas, chips, a tray of cookies and 57 ham and cheese sandwiches with a loving note this morning at the Community Day Center of Waltham (CDCW). Our budget for the sandwich making is $140 per month. Sometimes I spend more, sometimes less, sometimes I am on the mark.

“I am thankful that the Mission Committee can provide a meal once a month for the hungry who visit the CDCW.

“Our church families, especially our newer ones, are very thankful to both Megan and to me for the hands-on lessons their children are experiencing.

“And CDCW is extremely thankful also. I spoke with the Director and Operations Manager today.

“Please extend my deep appreciation to the Mission Committee members for all their support. I pray it will be possible for the church school to continue with this meaningful work in the years to come.”
