Guest preachers to kick off 2023

Several special guests will lead worship in January 2023, bringing fresh perspectives for the new year. Plan to join us and support these guest speakers and the senior choir!

  • Sunday, January 1: Mr. Bill Cordts, member, parent, and licensed minister, will lead worship. His sermon will be titled “For Everything There Is a Season.”
  • Sunday, January 8: Ms. Wendy Donnell, director of Christian Education, will preach a sermon entitled “Answering the Call.” She will share insights from a recent retreat she attended that focused on the Virgin Mary.
  • Sunday, January 15: Ms. Jan Zimmerman, interim music director, and Ms. Amanda Ketchpaw Palés , co-chair of Worship & Spiritual Life and choir soloist, will lead a service with a musical focus. Worshippers will sing hymns and learn about the history of those hymns.
  • Sunday, January 22: The Reverend Matt Carriker will preach and lead an after-worship conversation. He has just published a book entitled Giving Christianity back to Agape Love, just completed nine years as Protestant Chaplain at Brandeis, and is forming an Agape community in Waltham, as well as a street ministry nearby.
  • Sunday, January 29: The Reverend June Cooper, Theologian in the City at Old South Church, Boston, will preach and lead an after-worship conversation. She was long-time executive director of City Mission Boston, the second oldest nonprofit organization in the country.
