Linens delivered to Welcome Home as blanket-and-towel drive wraps up

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

Romans 15:2

The Mission Committee of Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, wrapped up its fourth annual drive for Welcome Home, a home goods pantry in West Newton, with a delivery of linens and a check for $492 on November 5, 2025.

The committee donated offerings from a recent concert organized by Christy Liao for the purchase of more linens.

Volunteers helped unload the linens, and Julie Plaut Mahoney, Welcome Home’s co-founder and executive director, expressed deep appreciation for the church’s faithful partnership.

In a recent email, she wrote the following:

“Thank you so much for your continued support. This week has been dominated by the threat of SNAP benefits ending and what we think this will mean for most of our clients. A $400 donation from the Mission Committee will be spent on blankets and towels that will be in our clients’ homes within days.”
