He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.
Luke 20:38
In his message on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Reverend Ken Baily of Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, described a decision by the Board of Deacons to purchase extra gift cards for groceries given the U.S. governnment shutdown.
He spoke about the Sadducees, an elite religious and political party who did not believe in resurrection (Luke 20:27-38) and who tried to trick Jesus with their argument about marriage.
The Reverend Baily asserted that God wants everyone to have the full quantity of justice. “Take care of the lives around you and work for the future,” he said.
Children gathered for a message about being in God’s presence.
The day also included fellowship time hosted by the church choir and a confirmation class kickoff.
