Sunny Easter Sunday provides celebration for all ages

Easter Sunday on April 20, 2025, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, began with a sunrise service at Levingston Cove along Crystal Lake.

The day continued with an exciting neighborhood egg hunt on the church lawn. Church youth “hid” the eggs.

During the egg hunt, youth handed out cards featuring the church’s Christian Education program.

More than 100 people attended the service. During the opening processional, congregants sang “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.”

Highlights of the service included a musical offering by Jeff Wu (soprano saxophone), Communion, and a spiritual entitled “The Angel Roll the Stone Away” sung by the choir.

The postlude was a duet for organ and piano entitled “The Day of Resurrection.”

Fellowship was hosted by Tann Scott, chair of the Deacons Committee, with help from Kitty Rieske.

Leading up to Easter Sunday, the church held a Zoom Maundy Thursday service and a contemplative Good Friday service in the Great Hall.
