Updates to Downstairs Meeting Room planned

In order to accommodate one of its tenants, Newton Highlands Congregational Church is updating its Downstairs Meeting Room (sometimes called the Youth Room). The room will be used for a food-serving program.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the Downstairs Meeting Room recently sustained serious water damage caused by an incorrect setting in the HVAC system. As a result, the floor must be replaced; this coincides with a new need expressed by the tenant.

The church plans to replace the flooring and cabinetry and have the room painted. Unused furniture will be disposed of, and closets will be cleaned out.

Assistant Moderator Rich Bryden, Moderator Sally Brickell, and Building Manager Yoko Bryden are getting prices for the work. Mr. Bryden and Ms. Brickell consulted recently with interior designer Michelle Markert to discuss the project.

In a stroke of good fortune, the unused screen in the Downstairs Meeting Room may be able to be relocated to a wall on the main level that has been waiting for a screen for announcements.
