Members of the Newton Highlands Congregational Church (NHCC) Mission Committee voted to send $1,000 to Church World Service (CWS) for hurricane relief on October 11, 2024. In the past month, Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton caused severe damage in several states.
According to its website, CWS “is a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.”
CWS has been delvering emergency clean-up buckets, hygiene kits, blankets, and other much-needed items in Florida and North Carolina.
The funds donated by NHCC were earmarked for mission projects during the last capital campaign and the FY2025 budget.
