Piano and string concert draws music lovers to sanctuary

About 40 music lovers gathered in the sanctuary of Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, for a program of compositions by Austrian composer Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828). The concert was organized by pianist Christy Liao.

Ms. Liao played along with fellow musicians Enoch Hsiao, Zachary Fung, David Carreon, and Max Wang.

A highlight of the concert was the use of a piano donated in memory of the parents of church member Marian Reynolds.

“It was a sweet evening for me,” said Ms. Reynolds. “My parents loved the arts, and the piano shown so brightly.”

Offerings from the concert, about $470, will be used by the church’s Mission Committee for designated community projects.
