The Reverend Cooper shares ideas for community building

So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

1 Corinthians 12:25-27

The Reverend June Cooper, just-retired director of City Mission Boston, shared ideas for community building and anti-racism study during her worship service on January 30, 2022. She invited congregants to participate in and learn from several events coming up, as follows:

  • February 13, 2022: Winter Walk Boston, an annual two-mile walk that raises awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness. This year’s walk will have both a live and virtual component. Register and donate.
  • Date TBD: Green Book Tour, an annual walking tour of the South End featuring local establishments that accepted African American customers during the era of segregation.
  • Date TBD: A trip to Montgomery, Alabama, including a tour of The Legacy Museum and an opportunity to learn about Bryan Stevenson’s Equal Justice Initiative.
