A large group of young egg hunters gathered by the Newton Highlands Congregational Church steps on Sunday, April 7, 2023, eagerly awaiting the signal from the Reverend Ken Baily that they could begin their search.
Six-hundred-plus eggs, stuffed by tireless Christian Education Director Wendy Donnell and placed around the property by members of the confirmation class, were quickly found, delighting participants and their families.
Easter Sunday also featured a sunrise service at 39 Forest Street and a well-attended worship service. The service included communion, and the Reverend Baily preached about what it means to be “woke” and attentive to injustice.
Special music for the service included a duet, Antonio Vivaldi’s Laudamus Te, sung by soloist Amanda Ketchpaw Palés and Interim Music Director Jan Zimmerman.
It was a glorious service!
The music was exceptional!
