Pause, wonder, listen, and be transformed
Amidst the voices of materialism, commercialism, and sentimentality that speak so loudly during this season, church school leaders offer the voice of God spoken through prophets and gospel writers. Many of us long to hear of God’s shalom and to celebrate the birth of Emmanuel. Join us as our children learn how they can bring the word of God to life in the coming weeks.
Here is our schedule for December 2022.
- Sunday, December 4, 10:00 a.m., We will we get ready to celebrate Jesus’ coming by helping others; sharing what we have will be part of our preparation. Let’s gather and make sandwiches for our hungry neighbors who visit the Community Day Center of Waltham. Children and youth will attend communion with their families. Come back at 4:00 p.m. to sing Christmas carols!
- Sunday, December 11, 10:00 a.m., Do you set up a crèche in your home? We are going to set up our own crèche and discern its significance and purpose. How does this visual creation help us understand that Jesus is the real center of Christmas? After class join us for a fun children’s gingerbread-house-making activity during the Advent Market.
- Sunday, December 18, 10:00 a.m., The first day of Hanukkah is today. Hanukkah is a Jewish festival that is celebrated each year for eight nights by lighting candles on a candelabra called a menorah. The holiday honors regaining control of the Second Temple and experiencing a miracle: Only one day’s worth of menorah oil lasted eight days and nights. Join us as we learn why the holiday is also called the Festival of Lights (or Miracle of Lights). We will have some special yummy treats for you!
- Sunday, December 25, 10:00 am., Please join us for an intergenerational worship service.
