During the children’s message on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, children and adults made a joyful noise with “praise eggs.”
In his meditation the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily spoke about the trauma experienced by Jesus’ followers after his crucifixion and the fact that, even so, “the word forgiveness keeps coming up.”
He quoted author Anne Lamont: “Not forgiving is like drinking rat poison and then waiting for the rat to die.”
“The Christian story about resurrection — which means the whole Christian story — is a story about forgiveness even amidst injury…or injustice,” he stated.
Music Director Jan Zimmerman sang “Serenity,” accompanied by Yevgenia Semeina.
The postlude was “God Be with You,” played on the organ by Yevgenia Semeina.
