Guest preacher Rick Chrisman shares “daydream” with unifying themes

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:13-14

In his meditation at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Reverend Rick Chrisman opened with a “daydream” about a minister, a priest, and a rabbi who walked into a bar and ordered three beers and a reuben sandwich. He reflected on commonalities in and different perspectives on the various “layers” of the Bible.

“We ask ourselves, the three of us, is there no way that we can say to our Jewish and Catholic and Protestant communities and to the world at large, ‘Don’t miss the life you are living. Don’t miss the life you are living!” he exclaimed near the end of his meditation.

Deacon Ted Palés assisted. The congregation sang “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise.”
