The closing for the parsonage sale took place on Friday, July 7, 2023, bringing to a satisfying conclusion 100+ years of church ownership of the historic home at 39 Forest Street, Newton Highlands.
Representatives from Newton Highlands Congregational Church (NHCC) did not have to attend in person; treasurer Jim Harper and moderator Sally Brickell signed papers and had them notarized at Village Bank on June 28.
The sale week was eventful, requiring a down-to-the-wire smoke detector inspection, a last-minute tweak of the home’s air conditioners, late-breaking trash removal, and several other nail-biting activities.
For their months of effort, thank you to realtor Diane Basemera, Parsonage Sale Committee members Peter Boberg, Sally Brickell, Randy Ellis, Ann Hulsing, and Steve Willner; Parsonage Disposition Committee members Sally Brickell, Randy Ellis, Ann Hulsing, Keirsten Lawton, and Steve Willner; treasurer Jim Harper; the Reverend Ken Baily; and attorneys Hugh Starkey and Dana Cetlin.
