Worshippers on Sunday, August 14, 2022, were treated to a service lead by Melissa Dietrich, a member of the Worship and Spritual Life Committee, and Anna McMahan, a member of the Christian Education Committee.
In her meditation, Anna talked about the challenging messages presented by the day’s two readings (Hebrews 11:29-12:2 and Luke 12:49-56). Having studied both, she took away the message that “God loves us too much to let us stay there way we are.”
Anna applied this call to action to concerns about centuries of strucural racism and implicit bias. “Jesus didn’t come to make us comfortable,” she stated. She urged listeners to persevere in toppling conventions, asserting that “Jesus is the one leading the charge.”
Last-minute sub Melissa did the first reading and then oversaw the fellowship time.
