Mission Sunday highlights NHCC in community

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

Mission Committee chair Erica Hodes spoke on Sunday, September 26, 2021 about ways in which NHCC is responding to pressing needs in our local area and plans the Mission Committee is formulating to keep NHCC engaged in our wider world.

Afghanistan

Massachusetts expects to welcome approximately 900 Afghans. Their biggest need will be housing, at a cost of $25,000-$40,000 per unit to set up. Several NHCC leaders met recently with members of Temple Shalom in Newton to discuss collaborating to settle an Afghan refugee family. As the process goes forward, donations of funds and furniture will be needed.

Haiti

The NHCC Council has approved the spending of $8,000 from the most recent capital campaign for use in a healthcare facility in Haiti. The Mission Committee is looking at Partners in Health, which provides care for urgent medical needs, as a possible recipient.
