Several NHCCers attended Newton’s third annual Juneteenth celebration on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Hyde Playground on Lincoln Street in Newton Highlands. The event featured musical performances, vendor booths, representatives from local nonprofits, a food truck, and face painting.
Members Tann Scott, Lynn Shields, and Marianne Talis made the rounds. Sally Brickell staffed the event check-in table from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. And the Reverend Ken Baily joined the gathering with Leo, his faithful canine companion. Unfortunately, the pair had to “cur”-“tail” their visit. Reported the Reverend Baily: “Leo doesn’t like loud music, so we had to return to church!”
