Norumbega Harmony singers braved hurricane warnings to lead worship on August 22

Members of Norumbega Harmony led the worship service on August 22, 2021, singing several traditional hymns. Norumbega Harmony is New England’s “largest and most active groups of Sacred Harp and shape-note singers.” The group has been practicing at Newton Highlands Congregational Church for about 20 years.

Singing master Stephen Marini preached on “Refuge and Resistance.” Dr. Marini is Elisabeth Luce Moore Professor of Christian Studies at Wellesley College, and Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell studied under him while a student there.
