Outdoor service warms hearts, lifts spirits

Thanks to a lot of planning and preparation by members of the Worship & Spiritual Life Committee, tech gurus Rich Bryden and Misha Hill, Music Director Lynd Matt, and members of the NHCC senior choir, worshippers (including a few with paws) gathered on the NHCC lawn for an outdoor service of scriptures and carols on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Participants had a chance to fend off the cold with hand warmers and then cocoa in the parlor after the service.

Stated the Reverend Ken Baily, “We had the chance for ‘public worship of God’ and a number of personal spoken prayers. And the weather cooperated. It does take a village so I’m glad to be a citizen here with all of you.”

Added Wendy Donnell, director of Christian Education, “Sunday was great for many reasons: The joy of music, hustle and bustle of preparation, crowds gathering, children waving, and God’s presence on a beautiful morning. At one point I thought of a line from the movie Field of Dreams. ‘Oh…people will come. People will most definitely come.’ And they did.”
