Oh Lord, my God
When I, in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayedThen sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou artCarl Boberg and Stuart Hine
In his meditation on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily spoke about aspects of the book Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari and about Paul’s letter to the Galatians in the New Testament.
“How do we humans who unite wisdom and faith conduct ourselves?” he asked. “Paul writes, ‘Isn’t the whole law summed up in one commandment: Love your neighbor as yourself….Use your freedom, use your wisdom, to love each other and care for each other.'”
The Reverend Baily announced with gratitude that Konbit Santé, a hospital in Haiti that the church supports, has been able to rehire several community health workers using church funds.
With the church choir on a summer hiatus, the service included several hymns, among them favorities “Morning Has Broken” and “How Great Thou Art.”
The service also included “Fanfare” (James Conely), played by organist Yevgenia Semeina.
