The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

Congregants heard prayers in English and also in Danish, Japanese, Luganda, Ukrainian, Tagalog, Hebrew, and Swahili on World Communion Sunday — October 5, 2025, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC.
Speakers Les Barnstone, Diane Basemera, Nina Harper, Yumiko Matsuoka, Emma Oliphant, Yevgenia Semeina-Maroyan, and Liz Simpson joined the Reverend Dr. Ken Baily to lead Communion.
The Reverend Baily described how the disciples struggled to figure out how to navigate in a complicated world. He referred to children’s sandwich making on Communion Sundays and the practice of spreading mustard on sandwich bread.
“Flavor is the essence of our faith, and it grows,” he said. “Take a tiny mustard seed and see what God does with it.”

The Mission Committee hosted fellowship time after the service.
