World Communion Sunday expresses Christian unity

The communion service at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, was enriched with prayers and readings in multiple languages on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

In his meditation the Reverend Ken Baily spoke about making communion down-to-earth and inclusive.

Speakers around the communion table were Les Barnstone (Hebrew), Christy Liao (Taiwanese), Yumiko Matsuoka (Japanese), Erik Oliphant (Danish), Yevgenia Semeina (Russian), and Lizzie Simpson (Swahili).

For the postlude, organist Yevgenia Semeina played “In Christ There Is No East or West” (G. Martin)

Members and friends gathered in the parlor for fellowship time.
