The worship service at Newton Highlands Congregational Church on September 8, 2024, opened with “This is the Day the Lord Has Made,” sung by the returning senior choir. The service also included fan favorite “Morning Has Broken.”
In honor of Re-Covenant Sunday, the assembly read a “Litany of Our Covenant” in unison.
The Reverend Ken Baily spoke about the ways in which God is calling us toward a just society. “While we’re trying to move closer to God,” he stated, “God is trying to move closer to us.”
“What a Covenant” (Lloyd Larson) was the final hymn.
Organist Yevgenia Semeina played “Sortie in G” (Martin Ellis) for her postlude.
