About 30 people joined Historic Newton’s walking tour of Newton Highlands, led by Ms. Clara Silverstein, on Saturday, October 15, 2022. This special event was arranged by member Carol Jensen in honor of the church’s 150th anniversary. Thank you, Carol!
The tour began at Newton Highlands Congregational Church, 54 Lincoln Street. The Reverend Ken Baily briefly introduced the church, noting the close involvement of James Hyde, Newton’s first mayor, with the founding of NHCC in 1872.
Reported Jim Harper, treasurer, “Blessed with wonderful weather, the tour continued with stops at the T station, the Hyde School and the playground, and a couple of houses on Hartford St.”
