The Newton Juneteenth Celebration returns to the Hyde Community Center, 90 Lincoln St, Newton, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.!

Volunteer to help with planning and staffing.

On behalf of Families Organizing for Justice (FORJ), the Newton Juneteenth Steering Committee invites you to attend our free, fun, family-friendly celebration of African-American heritage and culture through food, music, dance, and story-telling.

This outdoor event is easily accessible by public transit. Help us plan by Registering with Eventbrite.

This year marks Newton’s fifth annual commemoration of 160 years of emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Event partners include the Newton Coalition of Black Residents (NCBR) and FORJ@Newton North High School. We are grateful for generous support from FORJ Newton, the Harmony Foundation, Village Bank, and a Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts Grant from Newton Community Pride, in partnership with The City of Newton’s Cultural Development Department.
