Thanks be given
Thanksgiving is more than a way to say thanks–it is an opportunity to use our hands and feet and whole bodies to do Thanksgiving. When we share, when we help others, when we do the things God wants, we are showing our thanks to God for all that God has done.
In church school we will talk about things we can do to show that we are thankful people. Ideas include making sandwiches for hungry neighbors, setting the table at home, writing a thank you note to a friend, or giving someone a thank you hug or handshake during fellowship time after worship.
Here is our schedule for November 2022.
- Sunday, November 6, 10:00 a.m., We are making sandwiches for the Community Day Center of Waltham. Children and youth will attend communion with their families.
- Sunday, November 13, 10:00 a.m., In the ancient world, a person’s name was closely related to her or his identity. A name was not to be used lightly or carelessly. God’s name, in particular, was closely connected with God’s presence and power. What does it mean to “bless God’s name?”
- Sunday, November 20, 10:00 a.m., The entire church school team will be making pumpkin pies in our new kitchen for our hungry neighbors.
- Sunday, November 27, 10:00 am., No church school during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
