Children bearing palms recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem

Many spread their cloaks on the road and others spread leafy branches that they cut from the fields. Those preceding him as well as those following kept crying out: “Hosanna! Blessed is he whom comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is to come! Hosanna in the highest.”

Mark 11:8-10

With help from several recent confirmands, energetic children eagerly distributed palms accompanied by the hymn “All Glory, Laud and Honor” on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Newton Highlands Congregational Church. The church’s thriving church school program was on full display.

In his meditation, the Reverend Ken Baily posited that the question to ask on Palm Sunday is not, “What would Jesus do?” but “Where will Jesus go?”

The worship service closed with “Pie Jesu” from Requiem (Gabriel Fauré) sung by soprano soloist and Worship & Spiritual Life chair Amanda Ketchpaw Palés.
