Council approves property survey for Community Connection project

At their meeting on Thursday, April 16, 2026, members of the Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, Council voted to approve the recommendation of the Building and Grounds Committee to have a property survey done for the Community Connection project.

The goal of the Community Connection project is to develop a master plan for the church grounds to make the church more accessible and inviting.

A property survey will provide accurate, comprehensive information about the extent of the property and its features that the project consultants, landscape architect Karen Sebastian and design builder and restoration contractor David Nauss, can use to turn congregants’ wish lists into realistic designs.

The project was launched in June 2025 with an introduction to the project consultants.

In October 2025, congregants toured the church grounds and documented their ideas. Several weeks later, a group gathered for a review of the ideas and an opportunity to give feedback.
