Lent is the season of preparation for Easter, named by the Old English term that notes that days lencten (with other German and Saxon corollaries), meaning spring, but associated with the word lengthen. Lent lasts 40 days, reflecting Jesus’ time in the desert. It is a perfect time for a devotional conversation.
