Love takes center stage on third Sunday in Advent

Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob…who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.”

Psalm 146

The Reverend Ken Baily discussed three types of love and the symbolism of the third candle on the Advent wreath on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

The Reverend Baily used the song “Do You Love Me” to illustrate the active nature of love. “Every friend of mine who’s a rabbi can quote ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ he stated, “and many of them have been in it.”

The advent candle was lit by Christy Liao and her daughter, Katie Chuang. Katie also played cello during the service. Ms. Liao sometimes plays organ at NHCC.

The service included the choral offering “The Hands That First Held Mary’s Child” sung by the senior choir, accompanied by Katie on cello and Yevgenia Semeina on piano.
