NHCC gardens feature native plants

Birds and bees are welcome to visit Newton Highlands Congregational Church (NHCC) and are attracted by native plants selected, planted, and lovingly maintained by long-time member Carol H., member of the Native Plant Trust and Grow Native MA. Ms. H. also serves on Newton Conservators’ Invasive Plant task force.

She has been developing the gardens at NHCC since 2011. She explains, “Native plants go beyond supporting the current ‘in’ species; they support the broader ecosystem.”

Adding native plants to the NHCC landscape supports one of the church’s mission priorities, which is Keep the Creation.
