The Reverend Linda Hartley will serve as a guest preacher at Newton Highlands Congregational Church on June 25, July 2, and July 9, 2023.
“During my time at Andover Newton, I attended worship at NHCC whenever I could,” she stated. “It became my home away from home. It was in this church that I led my first worship service thanks to the encouragement of Rev. Ken Baily, who continues to be a wonderful colleague and mentor. I’m so looking forward to sharing worship with you once again this summer.”

Most recently, the Reverend Hartley served as interim pastor at Slatersville Congregational Church in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. She has worked at several churches throughout New England, including in Vermont and Massachusetts.
Born and raised in California, the Reverend Hartley moved to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University for her doctorate after studying political science and economics as an undergraduate student. After graduating, she taught as an adjunct professor at several colleges until she felt a calling towards ministry in 2012. At the time, she was working as an adjunct professor at Rhode Island College.
She enrolled at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton, MA, in 2013 and studied part-time so she could continue teaching at Rhode Island College. After her first semester, she decided to enroll full-time in the Master of Divinity Program. received my M.Div. in May 2018 and was ordained by the Rhode Island Association of the UCC in May 2020.
