Third Sunday of Advent includes pageant, reflections on peace

God has sent us a child — you have to take care of the baby.

Ann Hulsing

The third Sunday in Advent (Sunday, December 17, 2023) included a shortened version of the traditional NHCC pageant, which was incorporated into the worship service. Children and youth told the story of Jesus’ birth.

Pageant helpers included Anna McMahan, Kessely Hong, Karina Ellis, Director of Christian Education Wendy Donnell, and the Reverend Ken Baily.

After the pageant, Ann Hulsing, a member of the choir and the Buildings & Grounds Committee, spoke about learning to find moments of inner peace throughout life.

The Reverend Ken Baily explained that the Christmas story is the beginning of a journey, not the end, and encouraged worshippers to continue on their quest.

The ranks of the senior choir were expanded with enthusiastic newcomers–some of whom had never sung publicly.

The service closed with a seasonal arrangement of “Angels We Have Heard on High” played by organist Yevgenia Semeina and Music Director Jan Zimmerman.
