UCC congregations gather for worship, fellowship

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1 Corinthians 1:10

Five Newton United Church of Christ (UCC) congregations gathered at Newton Highlands Congregational Church (NHCC) for the second annual all-Newton UCC worship service on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

Worshippers were inspired by the Reverend Nancy Taylor’s sermon, “Knowledge,” in which she focused on the value of both faith and science. The other worship leaders were the Reverend Domenik Ackermann, the Reverend Ken Baily, the Reverend Wayne Earl, the Reverend Cheryl Kerr, and the Reverend James Leavitt.

The service drew over 100 congregants, an impressive turnout for a summer service. In addition to attending from NHCC, pastors and members came from the Eliot Church of Newton, the Second Church in Newton, the Union Church in Waban, and United Parish of Auburndale.

Several participants expressed interest in another joint service in winter 2024.
