Community Connection project continues with church property survey

A survey of the grounds of Newton Highlands Congregational Church, UCC, took place from Thursday, June 11, to Friday, June 13, 2026, and was expected to provide much-needed information for the Community Connection project.

The landscape architect for the project, Karen Sebastian, will use the information from the property survey and suggestions from several sessions with the congregation on October 28, 2025, and October 5, 2025, to create sketches for the congregation to review.

The property survey was conducted by Everett M. Brooks Company. It was approved by Council in April.

On May 14, church representatives met with two City of Newton officials to discuss ways to collaborate as the city prepares to redo Rodney Barker Square in 2027.
